Project Description


No two-dimensional documentation existed to aid with repairs or upgrades of an older machine and heavily field routed piping at the Hartsville facility. Sonoco requested an intelligent 3D as-built PASCE model to use as a reference for future improvements.

Scope of Services


During a site visit, as-built information was generated of the 14 bays spread over the operating and basement levels. This information was used to produce the required intelligent 3D as-built model and included equipment and structural features for the entire area. Piping was also modeled to Sonoco’s specifications, based on piping materials, and included the addition of pipe routing for both levels.The model was delivered in the requested format.

Project : Core Winding Facility Upgrade
Location : Chester, Virginia

Project Description


The purpose of the Chester project was to increase production at the facility with the addition of a new winder. It was determined that a PASCE 3D model would be advantageous to maximize the available space in the existing structure. Also upon completion of the project an animation would be generated to help in safety planning and employee training at the site.

Scope of Services


During the site visit control data was gathered to capture the required information. A PASCE 3D CAD model was generated containing the existing equipment along with the structural steel and door

Project : No.1 Paper Machine Upgrade
Location : Munroe Falls, Ohio
Volume : 120,000 cu ft

Project Description


The upgrade of the No. 1 Paper Machine would require work in several areas of the facility both inside and out. The work would include modifications to the screens, vats, and pulper area along with the associated piping. It was deemed necessary to have accurate as built drawings of the areas involved.

Scope of During the site visit control data was gathered to document the site. The PASCE model was generated including all existing equipment, piping, structures, and ductwork. The model was used to coordinate demolition of existing piping and equipment and design of new pipe and equipment.
